Justin Bieber “Boyfriend”

Today Justin Bieber released the first single off his album Believe. Bieber’s newest single is titled “Boyfriend.” In less than 24 hours, the single has already reached number 1 on iTunes. Beliebers have been blowing up the Twitter scene in anticipation and in support of the new single.
The song opens up with Bieber whispering “If I was your boyfriend I’d never let you go. I can take you places you ain’t never been before.” From here Bieber turns to his faseltto showing the world that despite hitting puberty, his voice has retained some of it’s higher range. More or less the song retains this pattern, hinting in fact that there is a lot of repetition within the song. The song contains words such as fondue, Buzz Lightyear, swag and of course the track’s name “boyfriend.” Is it just me or does this suddenly remind you of Justin Timberlake after his N’SYNC days? After listening to this song, I suddenly found the urge to play ‘What Goes Around Comes Around’ by Mr. Timberlake himself.
I want to applaud Justin for growing into his new voice, accepting it and using what he’s got. He’s truly shown that despite having a smaller range, there are various ways he can shape his voice and use it to his potential. As for my opinion? I’m not 100% in love with it, but the hook is very catchy. This is partly due to the fact that I love Indie, Rock/Alternative music. I also feel that the lyrics are weak, but I’ll give him props for rapping. It’s nice to see artists taking risks, because with these risks they reveal to the world their hidden talents. They’re sharing parts of them that we wouldn’t have known without taking these risks.
Rating: Form your own opinion. Don’t take my word for it because you may think something else

Yes I do like the band Neverest. What attracted me to them was their first single “About Us.” I heard that song, and I was hooked before the Chorus of the song. Lead singer Spee has this amazing tone, and they also have this different sound. I’m not really into mainstream music and top 40. I’m not into music for the hype. Neverest embodies that. They have this unique sound, and you can sense the passion and meaning they have behind their music. It’s a beautiful thing.
To address the second part of your question. I am very well aware that I cannot like EVERYTHING my favorite band releases. For example, on Neverest EP I’m not particularly fond of two songs but that doesn’t mean I hate the band. I’m very honest, so if I don’t like something I will come out and say it. I thought Neverest put a beautiful spin on a traditional song, you don’t have to agree with me. But I think people should take into consideration what kind of comments you make because you can offend someone. Saying things such as “Neverest, Never AGAIN” and “They actually have fans” is rude. You are playing with people’s feelings and it’s not right. Someone once told me, if you have nothing nice to say keep it to yourself. There you go, there’s some advice for you

I’m sorry to inform you, that my ears are perfectly fine. There’s nothing wrong with them, even the doctor agrees with me. As for Neverest and their rendition of the Canadian National Anthem, it was beautiful, different and unique. What attracts me to music, is its individuality, and how it has a different sound then your typical pop music. That’s why I liked it, I don’t like it because their a bunch of 4 good looking boys. So no, they didn’t suck. And all I can say to you is “haters gonna hate.” Just by simply saying their name, you’re confirming that Neverest is doing something right :)
